ProjectsCanadian Siberian Expeditionary Force Project (2010-2011)The CSEF Project is a collaborative effort between Monika Berenyi and Professor Benjamin Isitt, bringing to life the history and memory of Canada’s military mission on the anti-Bolshevik front (1918-1919). The Project consists of digital media documentation and the production of a documentary film built upon found and captured footage, engaging the politics of memory. The work is currently in progress, on location in Victoria (Canada) and Vladivostok (Russia). media: documentary film, photography, text, public screenings www.siberianexpedition.caDetroit City Poetry Oral History Project (2008-2010)The DCPOH Project aims to address the collective history of Detroit’s poets and print culture that prevailed during the 1960’s and 1970’s, and generate a new platform of sustainable information for the city of Detroit. The Project focuses on the poets and materials produced by the Artists Workshop, Alternative Press, Broadside Press, and Lotus Press, and consists of a digital oral history archive, sound recordings, photo archive, and collected ephemera. The materials are held by Wayne State University Special Collections Library and form an aspect of a greater Cass Corridor digital archive. The Project was supported by the European Union Culture Fund and the Civil Society Dialogue Project. Monika Berenyi's creative work addressed the practice of ritual in the village of Lierderholthuis (the Netherlands). A documentary film, entitled ‘18’, was produced and screened in Turkey, the Netherlands, and Canada. media: documentary film, photography, text www.ruraleurope.info1956 Memorial Oral History Project (2004-2007)The objective of the 1956 MOH Project was to document the 1956 Hungarian emigration wave to Canada in the form of a digital archive. The collected materials consist of a 400-hour digital oral history archive, photo archive, traveling exhibit materials, documentary films, and written matter. The Project was supported by the Multicultural History Society of Ontario, Oral History Museum of Canada, and Rakoczi Foundation. Monika Berenyi participated as a researcher, documentary filmmaker, and exhibit designer.
