Canada on display
For the fourth straight year, Lockport’s Kenan Center will launch an exhibition featuring the work of Canadian artists. In a show appropriately called “Crossing Borders,” the center (433 Locust St., Lockport) will exhibit the work of 25 artists from five Canadian provinces, with work including oil and watercolor paintings, mixed media constructions, sculpture, collage, photography and more. The exhibition, though not an official part of the multivenue “Beyond/In Western New York” show that comes to the area this week, lends a decidedly international vibe to the week’s gallery offerings. Artists include the Barrie-based photographer Brian Barrer, Toronto printmaker and abstract painter Andrea Soler, sculptor Candace Raquel Lee and Iranian-Canadian acrylic painter Soheila Esfahani, whose meticulous calligraphy-inspired paintings seem to be intricate spider webs of language and color.
